If its sounds confusing then check out my previous Twin Shot Tuesday post for a better explanation!

Top Ten Tuesday (#3)

Top Ten Books I Feel As Though
Everyone Has Read But Me

1. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins - I keep pestering my friend to get me her copy of the first book, but alas her memory just doesn't seem to be abiding!

2.The Umbecoming of Mara Dyers by Michelle Hodkins- I swear to you, everyday some blogger or the other seems to be reviewing this book! It makes the book take mammoth strides on my want-to-read-so-badly scale!

3.The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare- Jace Wayland! So how cute is the guy, like actually! Most of the book blogging population is swooning over him. What am I missing out?

4. Across the Universe by Beth Revis- This was making its rounds around the blog-o-sphere sometime ago. I wasn't sold on the idea (he he yeah I judge books by their cover!) But after reading so many reviews and blogger buddy's recommendation I feel daft not having read it!

5.Delirium by Lauren Oliver- I got super excited when I bought my first YA book ever- Before I Fall! And I loved it and Delirium came out and the book sounded so good. I saw all the endless promos and reviews and I am nearly dying with need for this book!

6. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray- I see the reviews for this book on my dashboard so frequently! At first it I ignored it ,but the number of reviews that keep coming make me wonder if I am the only one who hasn't got myself a copy!

7.If I Stay by Gayle Forman- I bet you, every blogger but me has read this book! I hear them talk about it so fondly all the time, it almost seems to me like a YA classic!

8. Summer Series by Jennifer Han- I see reviews of these pop up all the time. Ever since I laid eyes on the synopsis for The Summer I turned Pretty, I want to meet Belly too!

9. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead- I am nearly done with the Vampire Academy (ahaha, yes I've read it! :P) And I want to read this soo badly. I am itching to read it and like a plague EVERYONE (but me) seems to be finding means to acquire a copy!

10. The DUFF by Kody Keplinger- This is almost like an epic YA books, which everyone, I mean EVERYONE has probably read.

So tell me all about your living under the rock moments with books?

Be Now, Buddy What by Dan Spencer

Be Now, Buddy What

"A naked man survives a meteoric plunge from a cloudless sky, and a small-town TV reporter rushes to get the story. The fallen man claims amnesia and, despite widespread efforts,no one can identify him. The press dubs him Buddy What. When no clues surface about his identity and as details about the mystery man are examined, Internet devotees start worshiping him as a celestial being. With reputation, he accepts the call to become a spiritual guru. But as Buddy What grows into a worldwide phenomenon, controversies follow. Be Now, Buddy What is a satire about fame, the news media organized religion, and people who let strangers into their homes."
I received an e-copy of this book from Dan Spencer for reviewing. The pitch/summary of this book sounded hilarious, so I decided to read it.
Buddy What is a naked man who falls from the sky. For obvious reasons he becomes a media star and everybody wants to know his story, since he doesn't have one- a possible amnesiac- the media begins to speculate. As a result he is ultimately thought to be a God or a messiah. Buddy What's behavior supports this theory too- the simple clothing, the lack of interest in luxury and indulgence and his various seemingly spiritual beliefs.
The book is told from the perspective of a small time reporter who ends up being Buddy's buddy and often spokesperson. The writing is satirical and hilarious, very engaging style of writing. At first I found it tiresome but as I read on it was amusing to read.
The story could have been made MUCH shorter, 200 pages perhaps 100 even. All the events that occur are logical and the reporter frequently retrospects the events. So its like reading a journal or diary, the purpose as the the reporter implies of this book was to tell the public The True Story of "Buddy What".
The concept was nice and the observations in the book very real and often cynical, i agreed with most of the views. But towards the end of the book it got preachy- preachy in a self-help book way not a religious preachy.

"So, please, for your sake, don't obsess over Buddy
What. Don't live vicariously through him or me or anyone
else. Don't rely on someone else's story to get you through
life. You are your own story. We are all stories.
Now do yourself a favor. Put down this book.
Your life awaits.
Be now."
I am not big on self-help books, the message is all the same - Live for Today etc etc.
The book was a good read  I would give it a 2 on 5 for an unusual plot and amusing writing style. Otherwise I thought it was a drag, I think it would have been a more fun read if it was shorter. A lot of the pages were just repetitions of the same thing in the story which the reader could have figured out for himself even if it hadn't been written. It was like driving home a point- saying the same thing over and over and over and over again.
The story was a weak one, but I guess the main idea was to share views about society today and the media-centric aspects of it- like a parable to mock the media, fame etc etc.
Its like reading a Victorian novel, where the author uses a story to comment on society and mock it norms; the difference being the time period and the style of writing.
I would recommend this if you would like a good laugh and quirky one liners!
"Patience would be easier
if it weren't so time consuming."

TBR Tuesday

TBR tuesday is a meme that gives you a chance to give your fellow blogger a chance to "peek at" your TBR. It doesn't neccesarily need to be a book you own physically (yet), just any book your looking forward to reading and have added to your TBR.

"The following lovely ladies have inspired this new meme for me - inspired by "a peek at my TBR" by Jen atMakeshift Bookmark, "Waiting on Wednesday" by Jill at Breaking the Spine and "Books to Pine For" by Kristi at The Story Siren."

-Lisa the Nerd @ lisa is busy nerding

Here is my TBR..Its an endless pile on Goodreads, but I will pick a few that I am
absou-friggin-letly dying to read..

Falling for Hamlet

FALLING FOR HAMLET BY MICHELLE RAY

"Meet Ophelia: a blonde, beautiful high-school senior and long-time girlfriend of Prince Hamlet of Denmark. Her life is dominated not only by her boyfriend's fame and his overbearing family, but also by the paparazzi who hound them wherever they go. As the devastatingly handsome Hamlet spirals into madness after the mysterious death of his father, the King, Ophelia rides out his crazy roller coaster life, and lives to tell about it. In live television interviews, of course.
Passion, romance, drama, humor, and tragedy intertwine in this compulsively readable debut novel, told by a strong-willed, modern-day Ophelia."

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYERS BY MICHELLE HODKINS

"Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong."

Mara Dyers is ALL over the blogosphere, the hype created has been tremendous and got almost ever blogger eager to read the book! Some of them are ahead of the game with ARCs and various other means to acquire a copy. Everytime I see a review, the need to read Hodkins' book gets more urgent. And here is the best part, the hype is not a wasted one...most reviews rate it out-of-this world!

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)

BLOODLINES BY RICHELLE MEAD
"When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood."

I am a HUGE VA fan and an even HUGER Adrian Ivashkov fan! To see them both continue to live well-past the orignal series gives me great joy. It also makes saying farewell to the VA series easier and less painful. *sheepish grin* I am soo excited to read the Bloodlines series, but I hate reading a series knowing that the sequel will not be put for another year! I know that is part of the excitement but I just cannot wait!

What are you eagerly waiting to read?

Day 16- Your favorite female character

Day 16- Your favorite female character

This one took me time to put into a post, LOTS of time. I pondered this question for an obnoxiously large amount of time. The funny thing is I rejected the first answer that came to me when I read the question and here I am back to keying in the same answer.
I know this answer may make you roll your eyes, want to strangle me or perhaps yourself, maybe even un-follow me or spam me with annoyed mails..
But please don't because I am simply obsessed with the series, (I even started a blog dedicated to it.! It didn't work out very well because I am on a dry spell with post for it. Though I have 7 followers! :D ) See so I know you love me and will not to do any of the above!

My favorite female character is...you guessed it..
Rose "Rosemarie" Hathaway..
if you thought Lissa Drogmir...then Aha! Not so predictable after all eh?
*chuckles*

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

"Rosemarie Hathaway is a 17-year-old Dhampir. With skin the color of inside an almond, long dark hair and brown eyes she’s a stark contrast to her pale, blonde haired vampire best friend, Lissa."

Why she is my favorite?
Because she is bold, strong and speaks her mind.
Rose is a pretty girl and knows it, but she isn't vain. Instead she is sharp and witty! She is the definition of sexy- charming, beautiful, sharp-tongues, hard -to-get and can fight!
Now I know what your thinking what a "perfect" types. I don't like her becuase she is the precise concottion of awesomeness for a protagonist. With all these fun traits, she can be serious and vulnerable at the same time.
A very important point that may have influenced this choice, she is in a Vampire novel and she is not broody or lusting like crazy after vamps! (I mean she is, but not in a he-has-secret-so sexy-I-wanna-do-him-oh-but-I-am-a-looser way!)
She tackles all the various emotions thrown at her without making it seem like a terrible soap opera! :)

Who is your favorite female character?

Monthly Theme Post

is something like a monthly meme!
Every month Sophistique Noir picks out a theme and uploads pictures related to the chosen theme.
This month- September's theme is Boots!
My favorite-est theme ever!
I have a HUGE thing for boots, sadly I only two and out of those only one fits me! :(
Nonetheless here are the photos I have put together for this Month's Theme Post

All of them depict the Theme Boots differently, hence the compilation.
The last one are my very own boots , the ones that don't fit me! :(
And can you believe it was the biggest size the store had!
*hmph* my poor big feet!
Oh and the source for my pictures is We<3 it!
Are you participating in the Monthly Theme Post event? Leave me a link to your post.

P.S. I know my selection isn't as dark as Sophistique's...*sheepish grin*

Oh! And a closure to the post..
